“From our conversations, President McInnis’ words and actions are clearly heartfelt and forthright, and she has given us no reason to doubt her absolute sincerity in defending our academic freedom, the university, our faculty, and our students,” he wrote. “She is working to safeguard both Yale’s autonomy and our ability to accept the students of our choice. I am confident she will succeed in protecting both.”
...Four student leaders... met with McInnis... “In our meeting, we advocated for student concerns and shared them with President McInnis. We also sought clarity on what protecting students’ rights in this DOJ probe should look like,” the student leaders wrote in a joint... statement... that they plan to release more information about the meeting and their thoughts on it at a later date...
McInnis has refrained from making public comment about the settlement with the exception of a July 13 email to the Yale community, in which she confirmed that the University is seeking a voluntary resolution to the Department of Justice’s investigations into Yale admissions...
